Meta tag validator

Audit a page's <head> in one pass: title and description lengths measured in real pixels (the way search results truncate them), canonical, robots, hreflang sanity and JSON-LD — or generate a complete head block from scratch.

Head generator

Starting from scratch? Fill in the essentials and get a complete, ordered head block — charset through JSON-LD — that passes this page's own audit.

What gets audited

The audit covers the tags that actually affect how your page appears and ranks: exactly one title and meta description within pixel budgets, a sane canonical, no accidental noindex, valid hreflang pairs with an x-default, parseable JSON-LD, and the Open Graph and icon tags the other two tools handle in depth.

FAQ

How long can a meta description be?

Google truncates by pixel width, not characters — roughly 990 px on desktop, which lands between 150 and 165 characters depending on the letters. The validator measures your text with real font metrics and shows exactly where the cut falls.

Do meta keywords matter?

No. Google has ignored meta keywords since 2009, and every major engine followed. The validator flags it as removable noise rather than something to optimize.

What is a canonical URL?

The link rel="canonical" tag names the one URL that should represent a page when it's reachable at several (http/https, trailing slash, tracking parameters). Search engines consolidate signals onto the canonical — a wrong one quietly hides pages from results.
